The Apocrypha

The Apocrypha contains mainy books considered non-canonical by western scholars, however this belies a rich tradition of Hebrew literature which is most enlightening, not least the history of the Macabbees and the story of Judith as well as the missing portions of Daniel.

Note that R H Charles mysteriously places 3 Maccabbees as part of the Apocrypha, but for some reason leaves 4 Maccabbees in the Pseudepigrapha, it's normal position. Sirach is commonly called 'Ben Sira' in recent scholarship.
